Bhaskaracharya Mathematical Talent Search Competition (BMTSC) 

A National Level Pre-Olympiad Mathematics Competition

Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana (BP) has earned a very high reputation in providing mathematics training to school students from the 5th standard onwards – as well as in helping students prepare for the various exam stages that lead to the Indian team selection for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).  Many students from the BP have gone on to win medals at the IMO.

The BMTSC is a pre-Olympiad level competition that was started in 2014-15 by the BP, to commemorate the 900 th birth anniversary of the legendary Indian mathematician Bhaskaracharya II. Conducting such an annual mathematics competition at the school level, is a fitting tribute to Bhaskaracharya II. 

Objectives of the BMTSC:

  1. Identify students with an aptitude for mathematics, at an early age.
  2.  
  3. Introduce students to a pre-Olympiad type competition.
  4. Enhance mathematical ability and logical thinking of students.
  5. Conduct Nurture programs for successful students, to improve their problem-solving skills.

Eligibility:

  • Students in the 6th and the 7th standard.

Syllabus:

  • Based on 6th , 7th Mathematics syllabus.
  • Notes on topics will be shared by email with the registered participants of BMTSC 2025-26.

The exam will be conducted in two rounds.

Round 1: 
  • Sunday 7th December 2025
  • Mode Online
  • Objective type questions

Round 2:

Round 2 is for the students selected from Round 1 

  • Sunday 8th February 2026
  • Mode - Offline (classroom based) for students in Pune and Online for
    outstation students
  • Subjective exam requiring students to write the descriptive solutions
  • Question papers for both the rounds will be available in both English and Marathi languages.
  • Some % of the top students from Round 1 will be selected for Round 2.
  • Some % of top students from Round 2 will be selected for cheer prize.
  • The actual percentages will be decided by BP.

Prizes:

  • Certificates will be given to all the participants in both rounds.
  • Everyone selected for cheer prize will get a book / books as prizes and they will get an opportunity to attend a free Nurture Camp.
  • The first five top students among these cheer prize winners will be given books, mementos and cash prizes, as given below:
    • First prize: ₹ 5000/-  
    • Second prize: ₹ 4000/-
    • Third prize: ₹ 3000/-
    • Fourth prize:    â‚¹ 2000/-
    • Fifth prize: ₹ 1000/-
    • BP may announce additional prizes for the girl students.

Final results

Final results will be declared in [TBA] on our website.

You may appear for the Round 1 exam from a place of your choice. A mock test will be conducted a week before the competition.

* The Chief Coordinator may grant a concession in registration fee to deserving students with a weak financial background.

  4. If the information provided in the registration form is incorrect:
