Mathematics Olympiad Training Program (Level 1)

For Std. 8th, 9th (New students)

The Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana conducts Mathematics Olympiad Training Programmes for students who are interested in Mathematics. The training programme is aimed at the preparation for the Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) .

The aims and objectives of this programme are:

  • To create a sound basis for mathematical thinking.
  • To introduce students to the challenge and excitement of higher mathematics, a chance which they do not get with school-level mathematics.
  • Many a times, students are familiar with different formulae/statements of the theorems, but do not know the proofs of these. In our training programme there will be an emphasis on understanding the concepts and the proofs of various formulae/theorems. This will help the child to develop confidence of studying mathematics as he would be using the formulae/theorems after completely understanding them.
  • A lot of problem solving will be done during the entire course. We shall be solving routine as well as non routine problems.
  • One of the main aims of this programme is to develop the students ability to study mathematics independently.
  • Students are encouraged to write the Ganit Pravinya Examination (Mathex) and all possible help is provided to the interested students.
  • The training would be beneficial for competitive examinations in Mathematics at school as well as college level. Many topics in Std. 11th are covered in the Level 1 programme. It is found to be useful for IIT – JEE, AIEEE, CET etc.

Topics that will be taught in Level 1 of the training programme :
Divisibility – Introductory, Sets, Graphs, Simultaneous Equations, Arithmetic Progression, Quadratic Equations, Geometric Progression, Combinatorics – Introductory, Congruency of Triangles, Parallel Lines, Similarity, Introduction to Trigonometry, Circles, Inequalities – Introductory.

Kindly encourage students interested in Mathematics and with a score of more than 85% marks in Mathematics in the previous school term-end examination. We would highly encourage the participation of the Mathematics teachers from schools.

Admissions shall begin on 15th April 2010.
Admissions will be on first come first serve basis.
