Overview

  • Quantum computation has changed the way of thinking about  computation we have been doing since computers have invented. There  were a few problems that seemed unbreakable in classical computa-  tional settings now can be solved using the quantum computational  approach. For example: factorizing an integer N into two primes  within a sufficient time. We will see that this problem nearly takes  time in years on classical computers but could be done in hours/ days  on a quantum computer. It is also closely related to cryptography and  has security-based applications.

    We are at the beginning of a premature era of fully-fledged quantum  technologies. We think this is the best time to learn what is quantum  computation and why we need it. Mostly quantum computation is taught  in a very traditional way like other courses we learn during our academic  times. Our approach to learning is very pedagogical and based on recent  research in the field. We will make it more rigorous and accessible to any  curious learner.
Note

  • Anyone interested in this topic can register for these lectures as long as  they can put individual efforts to understand the beauty of it. A little bit of  probability and matrix knowledge will be helpful.
Topics

  • Basics of quantum computation (3 hours)

  • Introduction to quantum walks (3 hours)

  • Quantum algorithms via quantum walks (3 hours)

  • Universal quantum computation (1 & 1/2 hours)

  • Exploring real quantum systems, e.g. IBM Quantum Experience (1 & 1/2 hr)

    • Total 12 hours.

Registration Fee:

  • Rs. 500/- for students

  • Rs. 1000 for others
Course Coordinator:

  • Interested students/teachers/others should go to the Admission Portal, then go to New Application, fill up the application form, and submit the application form. Although on mobile, one can go to the admission portal, on some mobiles the words ā€œNew Applicationā€ are not visible. In that case, it is advisable to use a laptop/computer for filling up the application form.

  • After submitting the application form you will get an sms that confirms your username (your mobile number) and password. This means your form is successfully submitted. Note that you may get a message that parentsā€™ information is pending. Ignore this message if you get it.

  • After this, you will get a confirmation email from the coordinator. Then you should pay the fees by downloading the MYCLASSCAMPUS app on your mobile. Payment of the fee using the computer/laptop the computer is NOT advisable.

  • You can login to this mobile app by using your mobile number as login ID and your chosen password.

  • Once you have logged in you will see ā€˜STUDENT FEESā€™ which will take you to the payment gateway and you can make your payment.

  • After the payment of fees, you will receive the google meet / zoom link for the lectures from the coordinator.
