The ROTARY GANIT OLYMPIAD is an annual mathematical competition for students in standard 7, 8 and 9, 10 whether from public or private institutions. Created in 2001, it currently operates as a partnership between Rotary Club of pune pride and the Ganit Adhyapak Mandal (Mathematcal Society), as a supporting institution and Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana as our associated partner. The main objectives of RGO 2018 are to stimulate the study of mathematics in academia, to identify talented young mathematicians and encourage them to pursue a scientific career, particularly in mathematics and to select and train students. Additionally, RGO 2018 promotes several regional and state mathematical tournaments.
The initiative aims to motivate elementary and secondary school students to study mathematics, Improve basic education, and foster social inclusion through the dissemination of knowledge. The online first round competition reaches to more students from public schools in pune and adjoining Districts each year. Rotary Club of Pune pride in collaboration with Ganit Adhyapak Mandal of Pune has come out with the booklet to guide the participating registered students and prepare themselves for the competition. Further students can develop advanced skills in mathematics by attempting mock question papers and find out their own results on line. This provides the level field for the students coming from all walks of the life.
This competition is not only finding the excellence in maths at early stage, but one can look at it as the preparatory step towards Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) and then towards International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana is the regional center of IMO which conducts the training to appear form RMO and IMO. Students selected for Round II of Rotary Ganit Olympiad, will be automatically eligible for this training.
