NBHM approved organization of workshops linked to advanced instructional
schools in its January 2006 meeting. Each advanced instructional school is
normally devoted to two interlinked subjects. A typical AIS is run like
an advanced Ph. D. course. It is expected that enough material is covered
in an AIS so that participants may be able to follow current
research papers after the school. It is therefore natural to call the
graduates of advanced instructional schools for week long workshops
devoted to a single subject. |
|
The National Coordinating Committee of ATM Schools will now be requesting
all the organizers of the advanced instructional schools to also plan two
workshops assuming the contents of the AIS. These workshops will normally
be organized in the year following the AIS. |
Here are brief guidelines for these workshops:
- Duration of the workshops will be of 6 days.
- A workshop will be devoted to one of the subjects in which an AIS has
been organized
- Three speakers will be invited by the organizer. Each speaker
may deliver 6 lectures in expository-cum-survey type style on a theme
of his/her choice. The objective of these is to introduce young
researchers to an area of current research.
- There will be an open ended discussion hour each day.
- Six young researchers among the participants will be invited
to present one hour talks on papers/sections in books related with the
themes of the main lectures.
- There will be only one organizer for a workshop.
- These may be organized any time depending on the convenience
of the speakers and availability of facilities. However they will not
clash with any AIS.
- Four regularly spaced workshops are recommended each year.
- AIS participants and researchers in the area are eligible to attend.
- The daily programme may be organized as per the following format:
9.00-10.00 Lecture 1
10.00-11.00 Lecture 2
11.00-11.30 Tea
11.30-12.30 Lecture 3
12.30 - 2.00 Lunch
2.00 - 3.30 Lecture by a young researcher
3.30 - 4.00 Tea
4.00 - 5.30 Discussion Hour
